We are located in the WNC mountains at 1,860’ elevation – roads are tight and curvy close to camp. If travelers tend to get motion/car sick, please take precautions accordingly. For rigs 20 feet and larger, we recommend a specific route that has less turns and more straightaways. Please see detailed directions below.
From Murphy, NC
From the heart of downtown Murphy, take Tennessee Street/Unicoi Turnpike northwest for 2.8 miles. This will become Joe Brown Hwy. At the flashing yellow light, turn right onto Hanging Dog Rd. Continue on Hanging Dog Rd/NC 1331 for 5.4 miles. Stay left at Davis Creek Rd fork and you will then be on Beaver Dam Rd. Continue on Beaver Dam for 3 miles, then take a right onto Horton Rd (highway sign ahead for J&J’s). You will pass a house on your left, then a sunny vintage Shasta camper, and we’re on the left! LARGE RIGS: From downtown Murphy, take Tennessee Street/Unicoi Turnpike northwest for 14 miles (Tennessee St turns into Joe Brown Hwy). Turn right onto Beaver Dam Rd and continue for 4 miles. You’ll see a sign ahead for J&J’s Getaway, take a left onto Horton Rd; you have arrived. [blue route on map]
If you come from a different directions besides downtown Murphy (such as Tellico Plains), we recommend routing the GPS to DT Murphy, then reroute to camp.
This will avoid Coker Creek Rd – it’s an unpaved, gravel road that is not ideal for traveling (highlighted below in red).
From Tellico Plains/North of Murphy -TO- downtown Murphy: Take TN-68 S, to 294-E, to US-64 East.
