We are just simple folks, following dreams to start a life in the fashion our hearts desire. Jason is a former business owner of a 5th generation tech company who supervised 30+ employees and manufactured and produced resistors globally. He yearned for an outdoor lifestyle and the liberty to wear funky cowboy hats and holler “yeehaww” at his leisure. Jessie, a Sport Management and Recreation graduate, worked with the Tampa Bay Lightning, followed by a ten year career at a global management consulting firm. She dreamed of a simple, slow paced life that allowed for freedom in many facets.

In the fall of 2020, we set out for new beginnings. It was time to leave the sunny beaches of Florida and find a new haven in the Western North Carolina mountains. We are tickled to be residing and operating in Murphy, NC; a month in and we already feel more at home than ever. The town of Murphy is quaint, the people are the most friendly, and the natural beauty and landscapes are breathtaking.

They say you never work a day in your life when you love what you do everyday. So we did just that. We merged our passions for camping, adventuring and traveling, along with previous work experience, into a business of providing the ultimate camping experience for others. In February of 2021, we acquired Crawford’s Campground, now J&J’s Getaway, LLC.

When you visit J&J’s Getaway, you’ll quickly get a sense of the uniqueness of the campground. You will be greeted by a vibrant, sunny Shasta named Fred that will surely make you smile! As you start to hear the babbling creeks and see the 360 degree mountain views, you’ll come up on the General Store where you can get your camping essentials and shop for special trinkets. Host a party in the string lit pavilion, or take it easy by stargazing next to the campfire. Unique to other local camping spots, J&J’s Getaway welcomes all campers: RVs, tent campers and folks who want to glamp cabin-style.

We yearn to provide an amazing camping experience for all guests.
